   About this project

This project was part of a larger report on multiracial Americans. The interactive timeline shows how the U.S. Census Bureau has changed the race designations available to descibe oneself since the census was first adminstered in 1790. It was based upon a static graphic produced by one of the department's designers and turned into a dynamic application.
